Elburg City Scapes Live Cam
The city of Elburg is best known for its medieval fortress with an almost completely straight street plan. Elburg was moved at the end of the 14th century, but it was also turned into a fortress with moats, walls, and several defensive towers. Thus, the street pattern of Elburg largely dates from the 14th century. In connection with the development of hostilities at the end of the 16th century, a second defensive wall and a moat were dug outside the former canal. The Vischpoort near the harbor was initially built as a closed defense structure under Visscherstoren but was converted in 1592 into the current open gate tower. Gate doors were reinstalled in 1992. Elburg locates on the Veluwemeer and the Drontermeer in the province of Gelderland.
