In front stands a government building featuring an imposing clock tower, "Torre delle ore", built between 1530 and 1534 and later restored in 1706 and 1860. The magnificent Cathedral of San Martino (Collegiata di San Martino, Duomo di Pietrasanta), showing a beautiful façade in white marble. It is the main church in the town, built in the 14th century and later renovated in the 17th and 19th centuries. The 36-meter tall bell tower seen in brickwork stands out beside the church, although it was first finished with marble plates. The lively piazza has a wealth of historic buildings and exhibits of modern pieces of art throughout the year. From here, you also have pleasant views of the landscapes of the Apuan Alps.
